Top 5 Virginia Wines for the Fourth of July

When we think about the Independence Day, wine isn’t always the first thing to come to mind.  But Naked Mountain does an amazing job with summer food and wine pairing.  So here is our list of best picnic wines for the Fourth of July.

#5 – 2019 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay – Chardonnay makes EVERY list for EVERY season.  It pairs well with potato salad and apple pie – picnic staples.  It also drinks well on its own slightly chilled by the pool or on the patio.

#4 – 2020 Cabernet Franc – Pair Cabernet Franc with pulled pork BBQ or with a char-grilled hamburger.  This wine is a friend to grilled meats of all varieties, and it also does well with baked beans!

#3 – 2020  Aerie White – This fruit forward, slightly acidic wine goes perfectly with hotdogs, chicken wings, and sharp cheeses.  This is a great wine to start the evening, or to shut down the pool with.

#2 – 2021 Rosé – How can you have a picnic without rosé??  Pair this dry vintage with fresh fruit, fried chicken, or a delicious Caprese Salad!  The light pink color is also a stunner in the glass!

#1 – 2021 Chardonnay/Riesling – This is the Summer Stunner!  This off-dry blend of Chardonnay and Riesling is the perfect complement to warm weather, fruits of all varieties, pasta salad, and the pool!  Don’t miss out on this limited quantity vintage!
